Day 5

I feel as new! The medicine bomb Xuan gave me where amazeballs and my nose is my nose again and doesn’t have free will!

We go again for the Phó Bó breakfast, this time with a nice iced tea. Thac Thao is already a big girl and manages to eat with chopsticks but they can also be the dragon’s long teeth of this little dragon gal.

After breakfast we’ll stop at the coffee shop. Nice chairs, nice drinks and  a new way of making and drinking coffee. The coffee beans burn inside this silver machine that is brought to the table, the coffees pours to the coffee cup and then you purr the coffee into the glass with ice and mixed it with condensed milk. It’s sweet and refreshing, really good when it’s cloudy and around 30 degrees...

Looking at the clock, it’s time to go back home for lunch and today we’re doing Thai soup. Xuan explains to me that we have to cut these little oranges, make pineapple juice and get the water of a coconut... and then, sh*t happens and I feel dizzy and sick and almost faint... walk as fast as I can to my room (I seemed a snail) and stay there until I regain control of my body. That only happens around 3.30 pm, when I managed to eat lunch and try the Thai soup I never finished learn how to cook.

Today’s the day of the barbeque at Mr. Truong’s house and I’m excited as I’ve never been in a Vietnamese barbeque. Plans always change and so Xuan’s mum and niece show at our door  and we all go together to these fancy Chinese place. Instead of the barbeque, we settle by a Chinese hotpot and that’s really hot! You mix everything inside this ceramic pot. All the raw food go inside, wait a minute or two, and it’s ready to cook. Exactly like a fondue but this is done with hot water.

While at dinner, it’s decided we go to eat coconut ice cream to the centre and the crazy chaos begins once more.

Motorbikes, cars, people everywhere, lights and lights and traffic lights and organized chaos... this store has 3 floors and when entering there’s a mess inside, no tables for a “family” of 12 of course, so lets start organizing and grab a table here and a table there. Ice cream coconuts on the way! They really come inside a coconut, with dragon fruit, watermelon and other sweet things I can’t figure what is it. It’s not sour and it’s not sweet, it’s the perfect amount of sweetness!

While there I’m amazed with all the traffic and people moving in this part of the town and I just want to go back one day and stay recording this for hours from the same spot.

The day is long and it’s time to head back home, more bomb medicine, a quick shower and off to bed.

Night night peeps, don’t let the bedbugs bite!
