Day 77

Today’s swimming pool day! As usual I get up at 6.30 am and get ready for this crazy day. My backpack has my book (I’m hoping I’m able to read a little bit), my swimming suit, my pareo, sun blocks and I guess it’s enough, no?

The kids are ready so Carlos and Xuan take them to the school while Chi Lam and me walk. At the school the mess is installed, there are excited kids everywhere, talking very loud and just wanting to go to the bus. After I say goodbye to Carlos I go upstairs to be Phuc’s company and so I’m received with lots of giggles from the kids and mothers looking at me wondering what the hell am I doing there.

It’s time to go to the bus and it’s amazing how the security conditions don’t exist! Basically you have a normal bus with 3 or 4 kids seating in the same seat, grown-ups standing up and talking and the trip goes like this until our destination. I’m amazed… but this didn’t prepare me for what I was about to witness…

At Dam Sen park the kids get organized and we start entering. Lots of singing, smiles, kids running, many names called so they go back to their place, you know, a kids’ school trip on its best! When we arrive near the pool there are so many kids screaming and throwing water and so many grown-ups dressed inside the pool as well… this is a vision I wasn’t expecting! I go put my swimming suit and head to the pool so I can help Chi Lam, who’s all dressed - trousers, shirt and jacket. The kids continue screaming and jumping and swimming and who knows me knows this is my worst nightmare…

Around 10.30 am Thach Thao and Phuc come out of the pool as they need to eat and get dry ‘cause Thach Thao has been sick. They eat before the other kids and then the others start to arrive and get ready for lunch. When everyone is ready and had eat it’s time to head back to the school and after a big tantrum by Phuc we decide to go all on the same bus, Chi Lam, Thach Thao, Phuc and me. Thach Thao jumps in my lap and wants to sleep but this kids in the back seat don’t stop kicking my seat and I’m starting to be really pissed off, in fact all I want to do is get up and slap them twice so they stop… or at least I wished I could do that because in reality what I really wanted to do was something completely different… it’s no secret I’m not fond of children, yes I don’t like them, there’s couple of them that I do, like Thach Thao and Phuc or César and Teresa or the kids of my friends but I don’t have any patience for kids that are not related to me, in fact I wish they’d leave me alone so I don’t have any contact with them.

Fortunately the bus ride to school is quick and when we arrive there, Xuan is also arriving to take the kids home. We all jump on the motorbike and head home, yes, all of us: Phuc, Xuan, Thach Thao, me and, finally Chi Lam. Five people on a motorbike, a pity I couldn’t make a photo of it… =)

At home I have lunch and then head to my room where I prepare my nails stuff. I spend the whole afternoon painting and when I’m called to go to dinner, I pack everything and think to myself it’s enough for one day…

After dinner, I watch a couple of TV shows, then I shower and head to bed. I’m starting to feel sick so pill on my throat and lights off…

Night night peeps!
