Day 58

Carlos and Xuan left very early this morning to take care of some business, Chi Mi and Chi Lam take Thach Thao and Phuc to school and I allow myself to stay in bed until 8 pm. Around that time Chi Mi screams my name and tells me it’s time for breakfast. My head and my eyes are still aching and I just wanna stay in a dark place with my eyes closed.

I eat breakfast and I go upstairs again. I leave the bathroom’s light on and close all the others, lay down on my bed and stay there without moving for around half-hour then I get up, take my shower, dress and get ready to go to the massage.

I walk to the massage like a zombie without even acknowledging what surrounds me, it’s automatic… at the massage place I ask for my girl, 27 (yes, I made a mistake before, she’s not lucky number 17 but lucky number 27), go to get my towel and head to the room where the massage will take place. I’m laying down there and I hear the door open and I think it’s my girl but when the face shows up in my line of sight, she’s not my girl. By gestures I explain which girl I had ask and I was sure it wasn’t her. I’m sorry number 7 but my 27 knows me! After a while she shows up and we start the massage… I think while I’m laying down with the hot stones in my back I just switch off just waking up when she touches my shoulder to turn around. And the same thing happens when she starts massage my head and face, I fall asleep only waking up after she touches my shoulder twice. I laugh and ask sorry she laughs also.

It’s time for my steam shower and I stay there for 10 minutes, all the toxins are washed away and I feel lighter when I leave. The headache and the pain in the eyes is still there but I walk home as nothing is happening. At home, Chi Lam has lunch ready for me and I just need to seat at the table. I eat and go back to my room to lay down a little bit more to see if this stops.

Around 5 pm, Carlos and Xuan come back and when I go downstairs, after a lot of talk about how I feel and the opinions of everybody in the kitchen, Chi Lam uses a green liquid and an army medal in my body while mumbling something I didn’t understand. The result was this:

As if this wasn’t enough I had to endure my second steam shower today. She cooked ginger plus some other herbs, took me to my room, told me to seat on the floor, put the pan boiling under my nose and covered me with a blanket, like the American Indians used to do, the only thing missing were the hallucinogenic herbs… anyway, after 10/15 minutes I was sweating like a pig in the grill but the worst part is that I was warned I couldn’t shower until tomorrow morning… lets not describe deeper how I was feeling…

I practice a couple of art nail painting and it’s time for dinner. Xuan, Carlos and me seat at the table and talk while we eat. My headache hasn’t stopped yet even with the Chi Lam’s old singing so when I can I go back to my room and take a pill hoping this pain will stop. I finish my nail art, speak with my parents and go to bed really early.

Tomorrow’s a new day…
