Day 104

I wake up very early today, around 5.30 am so I decide to get up, take a shower, wash my hair and do all the things I haven’t done yesterday night. I relax under the shower and the fun fact is that even if I’m used to hot water, in Vietnam hot water is not common at all. Rich people have hot and cold water and washing machines and all the things I’m used to in Portugal but normal Vietnamese people live in small houses, only have cold water, of course no washing machine, most of them don’t even have beds, they sleep on the floor, they eat on the floor…

Time flies like my thoughts and when I realize everyone is ready. Thach Thao and Phuch will be dropped at school and Carlos, Xuan and me will meet Mr. Truong, Miss Hoa, Mr. Tho and Miss Loan for breakfast at 7 Wonders restaurant. We eat breakfast and after a while, Mr. Truong wants us to go and see where he’s building is new house. Is very near to his factory and the design is Japanese and very futuristic.

After the breakfast and the visit to the construction site, we head home and while Xuan and Carlos stay at home, I get a motorbike taxi and go to the Opera to buy, finally, the ticket for the show on Thursday. I buy the ticket and then walk a little bit ‘till Saigon Centre where I buy the tea set for my friend Carlos Rosa. I’m happy with my buy because when I’m back home Xuan tells me the drawings I chose are very special. Vietnamese people only use the flowers on the tea set and that kind of tea set on New Year.

At home, I put all the stuff in my bedroom and get ready to go out after lunch. Then I’m called for lunch and lau is waiting for us. This Vietnamese soup where you cook the beef, the prawns, the veggies and the noodles is always very tasty, especially because it’s cooked with coconut water and lemongrass. My intents of going out after lunch just go down the drain when I start feeling sleepy and think to myself “it’s only 5 minutes”. The 5 minutes turned into 2 hours and I didn’t do anything worth telling with the rest of my day, of course. When I wake up there’s no point on moving from where I am so I continue watching my episodes of Hannibal and I already know that after dinner I won’t go out either as tomorrow we’re going to the monkey island.

I smell it and I know what we’re going to have for dinner: barbeque! Chi Mi is barbequing the pork ribs and the prawns and when we arrive to the table the ribs are so tasty I can’t stop eating them. When I feel full I stop eating, take the dishes from the table and head back to my room. I continue to watch my Hannibal episodes until I feel sleepy and turn off the lights…

Night night everyone, sleep tight don’t let the bedbugs bite!

P.S. -  one more from Coachella...
