Day 105

Second day in a row that I wake up with the chicken, as we say it in Portugal, while no one is awake I go for my daily shower and think that I can rest when waiting for everyone to get ready… lately I’ve been wrong many times! When I’m ready, Mr. Tho and Miss Loan are already at our place and Carlos and Xuan are ready for breakfast. Chi Lam fries some eggs for all the family and Chi Mi prepares cà phê sữa đá to take away. The kids are very excited and so am I! We’re going to the monkey island whatever this means… =)

When breakfast is in our bellies we all go to the car and get ready for our trip. First we’re a bit lost around HCMC but then we find our way and I put the headphones and close my eyes until we arrive to the port. There we catch a boat to go to the monkey island. I record part of the boat trip and when we’re off of it I go back to my inner thoughts.

Finally we arrive to the monkey island and while we’re parking I see monkeys, monkeys everywhere… I’m advised to put my sunglasses in my backpack and never leave the photo camera in front of the monkeys (a little bit difficult when the objective is to take pics).

When we enter the monkey resort there are a couple of monkeys fighting on the trees and falling on the water and I manage to make some pics without any incidents, then everyone goes to see the monkeys and the dogs in the circus they have and I preferred to stay away as I’m not very keen on circus and the way the animals are treated to learn those stupid things humans want to see and think it’s very funny.

When the circus finish we continue our walk and I see a 3-leg monkey caged, this poor monkey now is aggressive because before was very badly treated by humans and that’s way it has to say in the cage…

Monkeys come next to us and I’m even able to give a peanut to one of the 20 monkeys that surrounded us, an excited little one even climbed to my leg for more peanuts, I freaked out and no photo for posterity!

We walk a little bit more to see the crocodiles and I have to say they’re really big!

In fact Carlos gives food to one of them and it eat the bait so quick that Carlos had a rush of adrenalin and so do I… once more no photos were taken… =(

When we’re done with the crocodiles, we get a small boat to go visit the Vietcong’s headquarters during the Vietnam War.

All the houses were restored and this place was one of the most important for the resistance. They even build their own weapons here… it’s no surprise that Americans got kicked in the ass…

After walking around this village we jump again on the little boat and head back to the monkey reserve.

Once there we go into the car and go for lunch to this nice resort with a swimming pool with sea water and even a beach, that I don’t advise to go for a swim as the water is really brown… blargh…

Anyway, we eat lunch there and after while the kids go for a swim we all rest a little bit.

The kids have so much fun in the swimming pool and when they start to get tired and cold, we pack our things and leave the resort but not before we all go to our pee stop and because I don’t find the ladies toilets I just go for my stop at the men’s one… =)

We do the same way back and I do exactly the same thing: headphones in my ears, my top rated playing and my eyes closed. Miss Loan is feeling very hot so she turns the air con with a very low temperature which means I’m going to get sick with no doubt as the cold air is all directed at me. We arrive to the port and wait a bit for the boat until we can cross to the mainland. Then, after we cross it, we stop for a bit to see if someone had found Mr. Tho’s wallet and like a miracle, someone found it and still with all the documents and money inside (in Europe this wouldn’t happen right?! ). After finding the wallet, we continue our way back and home.

We go by the city instead of by the freeway and all the traffic and all the stops and all the cold temperature start making me headache so when we arrive home I just wanna go to my bed and curl there. Unfortunately is nothing I can do as Mr. Tho is so happy he found the wallet with everything inside that he want to takes us for dinner.

We go to this restaurant near our house that serves not only seafood but also snakehead, frog and some other specialties that I don’t remember the name… I’m not hungry at all, so I eat a little bit of chicken wings, 3 barbequed prawns and some noodles and I’m done for the night… we head back home and Mr. Tho and Miss Loan go back to their house while Carlos goes to the office and the ladies go for shower in their own bathrooms.

When I finish my shower I still feel sick and my head still hurts so I put my p-jays on and close all the lights. I start watching a new episode of Hannibal but at 8 pm my eyes close and I don’t know what happened after…
