Day 91

I know today we have to go again to the container yard so when I get up and take my shower I already know that I’ll be putting my black trousers, my skull tank top and my black Birkenstock. After washing my teeth I go downstairs and, with Xuan, take Thach Thao and Phuc to school. When we’re back home Xuan tells me we can’t go to Lady Bulldog because the truck to pick the boxes at home is coming so we eat the noodles from the house in front of ours. When I’m drinking my cà phê sữa đá  the truck arrives and it’s when I realize that who’s going to be carrying everything to the truck it’s… tchan tchan tchan: Xuan, Chi Mi, Chi Lam and me! We carry 14 boxes weighting 32 kgs each, plus other 5 boxes with  different weights, plus a box with Thach Thao and Phuc’s cars, plus the paintings and the frames and finally 4 stone sculptures with different weights and heights… I have to tell you that this wasn’t easy and in the end we all needed a shower but Xuan and me can’t, we have to go to the container yard to see how things are going.

When we arrive there panic is installed! Xuan’s stuff are more than what the warehouse can keep so we have to start putting everything in the container today. I came ready for a supervising day and I finish in a full working day. The boys are working in the packages with the hope that in the end of the day Xuan gives them some money, the people in charge are preparing our boxes and our stuff while the guys with the stone Buddhas go next to the container to start unloading and loading it in the container.

The morning has passed and when Xuan and me are ready to go for lunch, the stone Buddhas guy call us and tells everything is loaded in the container so we head back to check how things are and then just go eat phò bó at the place next to the warehouse which is pretty good considering where we were. Xuan pays the guy and after eating we go again to the warehouse. While I’m helping one of the guys in charge fixing some boxes with our stuff, Xuan is back and forth between the warehouse and the containers and as if this is not enough a thunderstorm starts showing up on the horizon! Craziness is installed! Stackers going from one side to the other carrying our packages and Buddhas and furniture… too funny! When everything is finished I guess I surprised the boys from the warehouse as they tell me I’m strong and even offer me ice tea… hehehehe seems I’m not just a pretty face, I can carry heavy stuff and just be one of the boys! =) I gained their respect…

Xuan picks me up and we go to the container to see it being closed and sealed. The door of one of the containers didn’t want to close and so we had another adventure until a crazy guy with a stacker come and starts pushing the stacker against the container.

Finally it’s closed, everything is done and so it’s time for Xuan and me head home. Almost forgot to tell you that in the end of the day my black trousers were brown, my white skull tank top was between brownish and grayish and my feet looked like these…

At home, first I go to the toilet then I eat green mango with chili and then I go for a shower, a long one hat involved washing my feet twice as the dirt didn’t want to come out. When I’m ready I go to the office in search of job vacancies here and in the end, everywhere in the world. Today made me realize how I miss work and, especially, doing TV production, my biggest passion.

It’s time for dinner, the kids are rebellious and so Chi Mi takes them to the room so they can play there and just let us eat in peace. After dinner we’re so tired that we head directly to bed… I watch 2 TV shows and at 10.30 pm I leave I tunes playing my top rated music and fall asleep…
