As always, at 6.30 am the alarm clock rings and Rancid’s Red Hot Moon
starts playing. It’s my cue to get up, go to the shower, get dressed and ready
to take Thach Thao and Phuc to school. While I’m going downstairs the kids and
Xuan show up and when everything is ready we leave the house.
At school, Xuan buys a mermaid for Thach Thao and an Angry Bird toy
for Phuc, they’re so happy with their new toys that go to classes with a smile
and no crying. We leave them at school and head home to leave the motorbike and
go for breakfast at Lady Bulldog but when arriving there she’s closed so we
have to think on an alternative and the alternative is another lady next to the
people who sell the bread. Xuan had never taken me there ‘cause she always
thought I wouldn’t like the food but when we arrive there the food is great:
meat pâté or similar to a pâté, some Vietnamese rolls, fried onions and
veggies. It tastes really good and I don’t understand why Xuan thought I
wouldn’t like this. Her final comment is “you’re really a Vietnamese now, you
can eat everything” =) cool!
At home we get our stuff and head to the bank, Xuan takes care of her
affairs and then we go to the post office to send a letter to aunt Margarida.
When this is done we go to pick up Xuan’s new id card and finally, still before
lunch, we go visit her grandaunt that’s very sick. We stay there for a while
and I even close my eyes ‘cause, you know, you don’t understand a word what
they’re saying, it’s really hot so your body just starts to shut down which
means, at least for me, feeling very sleepy and rest my eyelids. When the visit
is over, we go back home and have lunch.
We have hand made rolls, basically I have to do it and I’m not good at
it at all, in fact, Chi Mi starts laughing at my first roll attempt. I don’t go
down! I continue trying and eat a good amount of weird rolls made by me, when
I’m tired of being mocked, I go for the soup. Chi Mi, Chi Lam and Xuan are
talking with each other and at one point, Xuan tells me they think I’m thinner
than when I arrived. Guess it’s a good think. I’d noticed my belly had reduced
and, even if I still don’t have a sick pack, I’m going towards it. Vietnamese
food is good for your health! =)
After lunch, Xuan stays at home and I go take care of some lady
business, when I come back home, Xuan’s at the hairdresser and asks me if I
wanna wash my head and I’m like “why not?”. While having my hair washed and my
face pampered, I rest my eyelids again (what the hell is happening to me?!), I
think I even snored a little bit (very ashamed right now)…
It’s time to go get the kids to school and the sky is turning grey
very fast so we also go very fast to the school to pick them up. Thach Thao and
Phuc are happy and we head home without any problems and no rain.
At home the kids go for the shower and I go straighten my hair while
watching a TV show. Xuan’s in the kitchen talking with her mother and her
younger brother about her monk brother (yes, big family that not even I can
keep on). I’m also able to paint my nails with the hope that I can do some
drawings tonight but my hopes go under water when Xuan calls me for dinner and
tells me that after dinner wants to go for a walk. Don’t understand me wrong,
please, I’m always happy to get out of the house and we eat and I get ready to
go out.
We go to the touristy street, where Xuan buys a couple of stuff she
needs and then we walk around for a bit. It’s good to do exercise and I think
my legs are in need of that, I can be thinner but my legs don’t seem to think
the same… after our walk we jump on the motorbike and go to see how the
movement is at District 1 center. Nothing new, tourists walking, rich
Vietnamese at expensive coffee shops, motorbikes and cars going up and down…
the normal stuff. We head back home when there’s no more to see.
I feel the need of my shower, some moisturizing on my skin and the a/c
on, which I do as soon as I’m in my room. My p-jays also dressed and so I jump
into bed and pres splay on my TV show list. Once more, I fall asleep while
watching a TV show and leave the computer on, just to wake some minutes before
midnight, turn the computer off and go back to sleep again…
Night night everyone!
P.S. – one of the greatest festivals of the planet had place in April,
Coachella, and one day I’ll go there, I know it… while I don’t go, here some of
this year's performances, or at least my favorites! =)
