Day 84

Today’s the last day of the kids’ holidays so we don’t get up as early as always, in fact I wake up, take my shower, get dressed, get ready and there’s no sign of Xuan even if the kids are already playing around the house. While I wait for Xuan I go to the office for some web search and around 9 am, Thach Thao tells me Xuan’s sick so I decide to go for breakfast alone. I go to Lady Bulldog, she prepares my breakfast, I eat and I pay and then head home. When I’m finishing writing my blog, Xuan shows up and tells me we need to go to the supermarket and also explains to me that because she took the medicine for the back pain, she was so sleepy she couldn’t get up.

We head to the supermarket and I’m always amazed with how many people are always there. It seems Vietnamese don’t do anything else besides being at the supermarkets, riding motorbikes and be at coffee shops. We buy lots of things, including many milk and yogurts for the kids, cookies and tea; our supermarket car is full to the top and I’m only trying to imagine how are we going to take everything in the motorbike… well, you’d be surprised with how many things you can take on a motorbike. I wish I could take a photo of Xuan and me on the motorbike with all the supermarket bags… we leave everything at home and then we go visit Xuan’s friend who got into an accident a couple of weeks ago.

Her friend leaves a little bit far, almost near Mr. Troung’s house, and we have some difficulty to find her house but after a couple of passing by we found it and the view is not great. Her friend was all stitched up: the nose, two legs, a foot… really not a nice view! We stay there for a couple of hours and at lunchtime we head back home. We have lunch and then while Xuan goes rest a little bit, I speak with my parents on Skype, as today is bank holiday. I tell them about yesterday’s day and what I’ve been doing and then it’s already time for my cinema session. I say bye bye and head to the cinema.

Today I’m watching Iron Man 3 and even if I’m not a big fan I guess it’s an ok movie to watch, there are lots of funny jokes and some surprises and Ben Kingsley is really a f*ck*ng good actor! While the movie is ok, I understood that what makes me laugh is completely different of what Vietnamese think it’s funny so normally I’d be laughing alone or out of time according to Vietnamese timing… another experience that I want to repeat! =)

At home it’s time for the kids to have dinner so I go upstairs and do my nails while watching a TV show. Then it’s time for dinner and Xuan and me go to the barbeque place where the food is always really good. After dinner we head home and I start watching the new season of MTV’s Real World, yes I know, I’m too old for it but it’s another guilty pleasure of mine and I watch it until it’s time for bed… =)

Night night peeps!
